Professional Biographies


Michael W. Stockwell - Principal


In addition to leading the strategic growth of the TPG organization, Mike provides consulting, business brokerage, and coaching to business leaders in Hawaii and California. Based in Southern California, he brings over 30 years of experience in management, sales, service, operations, human resources and marketing. Mike has held senior executive leadership positions in every size company from a multi-billion dollar global organization (Marsh) to a start-up operation (Employer Benefit Services). His core competencies include real world strategy development and implementation, business turnaround, and leading/facilitating change management.

Mike has experience in successfully growing startups as well as taking existing mature organizations through dramatic growth and a path to sustained profitability. He uses his expertise to help businesses through challenging times, reinvention and creating highly productive operations within the reality of constrained resources. 

Mike holds a Masters degree in Management from the University of California, Irvine and a degree in Psychology, with a minor in Economics from California State University.

James F. Elliott - Senior Consultant


With almost 40 years of experience in local government leadership and management, 13 years experience in the management and leadership of a small business, and an MBA from the University of California, Irvine, Jim brings an understanding of both government and business to the TPG team.  His years of hands-on management of government financial affairs, general management issues, and business relations provide TPG with a unique insight into the challenges faced by businesses that work closely with governments in a variety of situations. 

 

Jim’s governmental experience includes successfully managing a midsized local government (Carlsbad, CA) through both good and challenging economic times; development of financial, budgeting, forecasting, management, compensation, and measurement systems; and senior management responsibility for the organization’s business operations. 

 

In addition, Jim brings to the TPG team more than 15 years experience in leadership development, creating better managers, and employee driven change efforts.  Jim is also a certified facilitator, trained in managing conflicts and improving relationships using the SDI (Strengths Deployment Inventory), a tool that helps individuals and groups manage and improve their relationships, teamwork, and productivity.
